Jissmaria serves as a Y.O.U.th Serve Member at Lincoln Junior High School.
Jissmaria immigrated to Skokie with her family when she was six years old and has lived there since. She attended Skokie’s public schools and graduated from Niles North High School. In June of 2020, she graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Neuroscience and minor in Global Health Studies. Throughout her college years living in Evanston, Jissmaria was involved with various student-run organizations to mobilize youth services and funding in addition to being involved in teaching, tutoring, and mentorship programming. She is a firm believer in providing equitable academic and enrichment programming to youth as a means for them to realize their full potential. She’s now excited to serve the community she was raised in through her AmeriCorps Y.O.U.th Serve placement. In Jissmaria’s free time, you can find her reading on her hammock, binging Netflix, or trying out new recipes on her family.
