Maribel serves as a Y.O.U.th Serve Member at Nichols Middle School.
Before moving to Cicero, IL, Maribel lived around the Evanston area. She graduated from Morton East High School and pursued her higher education career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she majored in history. Throughout her entire schooling career Maribel has volunteered and worked as a tutor for students in different grade levels. Through her experiences such as working for America Reads*America Counts, she has been able to explore and develop methods that cater to students’ different learning needs. Maribel was also a part of a service-based sorority which allowed her to explore different aspects of social justice. Maribel is passionate about closing the opportunity gaps and being a contributor to students' educational success and advancements.
During her free time, Maribel enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, walking/playing with her two dogs, and she very much enjoys going on different adventures.
